Wisdom Nuggets for Mother Africa

The late Dr Myles Munroe was a man of wisdom, he was once quoted as saying: I was born poor, sleeping on the floor with cockroaches and rats. Today, I own my own jet. Everything I have is paid for. I am debt free; I open new businesses every year and mentor many people,” *ON UNEMPLOYMENT* Myles Munroe strongly discouraged the reliance on Government for jobs, describing it as ‘lazy thinking.’“There is no such thing as unemployment in the world. What you call unemployment is what I call lazy thinking,” he says.“The work of government is not to create jobs, but to create an environment for people to develop their own work,” he asserts. *ON GIFTS/TALENTS* : Munroe discourages employed professionals against relying solely on their jobs for income, urging them to instead create wealth using their unique talents. He also challenges aspiring entrepreneurs to develop and refine their expertise in a talent, idea, service or body of knowledge. When you refine your gift in an area, you be

Burden of Love: The Easter Story

What is our modern society's view on God's love? How can we love something we cannot see? What is your understanding of Sacrifice? In your view, what contributes to make love last longer or grow stronger?? Why does the almighty God love humanity so much?? Well, he created us in his own image to have dominion (rule) over the earth. He meant for us to enjoy all these things, worship him, and acknowledge him in our existence on this earth. There are many people who claim that there is no God, God only exist in our imagination, yet why does God continue to give such people and other people who blaspheme against him air, the gift to wake up from their sleep and  all the benefits he has assigned for this earth?? If you are wondering wildly just like me, I'm sure you are thinking the same thing too. Why doesn't he just cut supply of everything he gives you or me for free, the minute we say we are not going to worship him again? And concentrate fully and lovingly on on

The Last Salvation

April 14, 1912 The RMS Titanic, the biggest man made ship in the world had just sank. Loud screams heard across-board. Some people were not able to find their loved ones, some found them dead next to other dead bodies.    Those who died instantly after the ship sank,  died either from heavy metals and heavy ship debris falling on them or froze in the sea to death because they did not have  on enough life jackets to protect them against the icy sea water.    Pastor John Harper, a Scottish Baptist Preacher was also caught amongst the rest in the icy water. He had been playing christian hymns on his accordion to the delight of the gathered guests when the Titanic suddenly sank. Usually, at the end of every performance, he would ask if any of the guests would love to give his life to Christ, and when they came forward, he would lead them in a prayer to salvation.          On this icy moment, he checked his fur coat to see if he had any Gospel of Jesus leaflets left  on him to share wi

I Am Not My Skin

Have you ever felt the hot flash of the evils of racism run through the veins of your body? Imagine having to feel this horrible and horrifying impact everyday of your life in today's world. The story begins with one of my Brazilian students telling me this... "Kwame, I hate it so much being a black woman in Brazil today" Trust me when I tell you..ok?? You won't understand what I mean today but someday somehow you will. That was what she said to me on Saturday just when we were about rounding up our English class for the weekend. I could very well relate to her story of racial abuse and the big gap of racial discrimination and isolation in Brazil. Because I had faced just a similar ordeal when I was a young boy in a German Public High School in 1998 when the hippy boys in the school and in my class will usually touch my skin and feel their fingers to see if they will have black stains on their fingers as they touched me. But they felt nothing of such. And in ang

Be a Generational Thinker

One of the greatest books I have ever read is Long Walk To Freedom by Nelson Mandela. In his book he talks about the importance of leadership through sacrifice and having a sense of responsibility to develop others as much as yourself. He is seen as an icon, a leader and a symbol of peace and inspiration, not just to his dear nation of South Africa but to the whole world. But let's ask ourselves here, what really made  Nelson Mandela such a celebrated person around the world???  Sacrifice !!!! His selfless sacrifice and desire to see white and black south Africans live in harmony together in the era of Apartheid took him to prison for 27 years. Even after his release from prison in 1990, he worked together with his haters and political opponents in the spirit of unity so that a nation which was once  divided and segregated white, black people, rich and poor people, educated and uneducated can live together as one people for the sake of his generation and generations yet to come

I Got Flowers Today

I'm feeling very hot still under this shade Araba, get off your behind and head home to cool yourself off this heat. That was when this gentleman stepped in my way. Your face is looking all sweaty Miss...?? Araba. That's my name if that's what you are asking for. And I'm Kofi. Nice to meet you Araba. Could you please take this handkerchief and wipe your face. I can't stand a beautiful lady like you sweating like this under the hot sun. We engaged in a little more conversation, exchanged numbers and left. We had agreed to go on our first date after our first phone call.  On our first date, he brought beautiful bouquet of roses after I told him I'll be wearing red. Our friendship developed into something beautiful called love. And here I was, Araba, in love with another man again. One night he came over and picked my phone from the sofa whilst I was in the kitchen trying to fix us dinner. He rushed towards me and squeezed my hair pulling me towards him and g
