Doctors and all health experts around the world have told us to eat healthy and exercise more so we can boost and improve the immune system in our bodies right?
Well, let me tell you this then, yesterday evening while watching Citi TV, a medical doctor was being interviewed on issues relating to COVID-19 and how we can all stay safe. The answer he gave the host, Bernard Avle is the reason why i am writing this article today.
To paraphrase the important thing the doctor said, the interview went like this.
Bernard Avle: Doc., what can we do to stay healthy and strong in this COVID-19 crisis?
Doctor: Bernard, I'm not here to talk about COVID-19 issues at all. I'm here to talk about how people can help themselves have a healthy and strong immune system so they can live longer here on earth.
The secret to having a healthy and strong immune system is having a positive mindset and attitude to life always. In other words, the doctor is asking us to stay happy and choose to be happy with our life everyday.
If you don't know, the immune system in your body is like your body's engine. Think of an engine like the engine in the car that you drive. If the engine in your car has a fault, and you want to start or spark the car to get to work faster in the morning, the car won't start. Why?? Because the engine has a problem.
Unless you fix the faulty engine yourself or call a mechanic to help you, the car won't start. The immune system in our body works exactly the same way. The doctor went further to explain that the immune system has several connected tissues like electrical wires that connects the immune system to every part of your body. So whatever feelings you are feeling inside you on a daily basis (everyday),
it does affect your immune system and its ability to work properly in your body.
In other words, when you are happy and feeling positive, your immune system gets stronger and stronger to work better.
On the contrary, when you are feeling sad or unhappy and your mind begins to have a negative reaction to everything you do, the work that your immune system does also begins to slow down.
However, if you continue to entertain and encourage these negative feelings and attitudes to things in your life, your immune system will finally be weak and it will not be able to fight against any disease that enters your body.
Enough of the science lessons, let's break the message down to a real life situation. Shall we....
Stay away from negative people or people who do not do anything good in your life. Don't just try to stay away, stay away completely from them.
Find and move towards happy and positive people instead. People who make you happy.
Your happiness must be a top priority (very important) for you in 2020.
And don't you dare joke around with it. You might die prematurely from negative emotions, feelings or thoughts if you do not take this seriously.
Listen to me, I'm not saying you are going to be happy all the time or you should be happy all the time, because that would be an unrealistic expectation in life. But at least, do your best to stay away from toxic or bad people who enjoy making you miserable or sad always.
I don't know how close they may be to you, but if being around them does not make you happy or feel positive but sad always, stay away and avoid them.
For some of them, you will have to tell them a piece of your mind and break up relationship with them completely.
I will not say hate them and plan evil on them. No, but avoid them.
Delete their numbers from your phone if you have to, especially if their calls makes you anxious or nervous every time.
The late famous comedian, Charlie Chaplin once said "A day without happiness and laughter is a day wasted"
The ball is in your court.
