Words That Divide

What are some of the words said to you that have hurt you so much?

Do those hurtful or negative words  still have an effect on your today?

If not, how were you able to forget them and overcome its power on you?

Growing up as a little boy right through to my teenage years, I faced a lot of discrimination from strangers and quite strangely, people who I considered as friends.
I have gladly overpowered that stigma. But one negative thing I cannot shake easily is this mocking phrase;
Class, look, Kwame Sarpong is writing his own formulas. You must be guessing what kind of formulas was I writing. It was during a time in my Primary School Maths Class, that my maths teacher said those words to me Infront of the whole class. Everybody in the class laughed at me hard as well to crown my shame.
These words deformed me mentally for years in my life until the intervention of my statistics lecturer at the university started taking keen interest in my studies. He wanted to understand why I could score as low as 15% in his paper but score 90% in French language, which he thought was more difficult and complex than statistics for me.

I told him about my dislike for mathematics from Primary School right from when those words were said to me. His psychological therapy sessions and patience in teaching me Maths from scratch made me earn 65% score on my own effort in Stats at the end of the semester.

Words that divide
The Bible touts its words as a double-edged sword which speaks truth and warns strongly people doing bad deeds. Simply put, it says the truth as it is whether in good or bad.

Words that divide

Most parents have double- edged tongue effect on the lives of their children. Yes, they punish them for wrong doing (which is a good one) but they immediately curse them for bad acts they do to represent a bad character of their father or mother.

For instance, look at what you have done, you are as useless and stupid as that useless father of yours who abandoned me when I had you. And vice versa with men on their children reflecting on them words on the bad character of their mother.

The child suddenly grows up to have enmity for the father or mother, who he or she barely knew. All because of negative or divisive words.
Married couples are no different from using negative words on each other.

You call yourself a man, you should count yourself lucky that I married you. I was not your class of woman, I took pity on your sorry self to marry you so shut up you fool.

All these words from a wife to a husband after an argument at home. From a husband, you lazy woman, all you know is eat, sleep, have sex and produce babies. Good for nothing. You are half a woman of my standard. (Also from an argument)
Just try and imagine the negative toll it will have on either of them. Be it the wife or the husband.

Let's be mindful of the words we say to each and carry in thoughts about each other.
.

I leave you with a my own quote;

Have the maturity and the sensitivity  to understand that the negative words can cut deep wounds into the hearts of others.
Learn to say sorry and heal them with words of comfort.

Shalom!!!!

The Paradox of Our Times

*THE PARADOX OF OUR TIMES* Is that we have taller buildings, but shorter tempers Wider freeways and roads but smaller viewpoints We spend more, but we have less. We have bigger houses, but smaller families More conveniences, but less time. We have more degrees, but less sense More knowledge, but less judgement More experts, but more problems More medicines, but less healthy lives We have multiplied our possessions, but reduced our values. We talk too much, love too little and hate too often We have learnt how to make a living, but not how to make a life. We have added years to life, but not life to years. We've been all the way to the moon and back But have trouble crossing the street to meet or greet the new neighbour. We have conquered outer space, but not our inner hearts We've cleaned up the air in our environment  but destroyed our souls. We claim to love all people but quick to show our prejudice We've higher incomes, but lower morals. We'v...

Support Small Business Owner Friends And Family To Grow

To all my self-employed, small business owner friends and family,  this article is dedicated to us!!!! Rihanna releases a lip gloss, people buy it.  Michael Jordan puts out new trainers in stores, people flock to these stores to buy them instantly. Dr. Dre  has new headphones, people buy it. Oprah Winfrey, the richest black woman in the world introduces a new weight loss and diet control program, people jump on board and flow with it. BeyoncĂ© has a new concert, people queue in line to go spend £250 on a ticket just to watch her performance. A friend or family member of ours starts a business, and soon we become weary.  We say things like "Not sure this is going to work"  "This business you are starting is not going to go anywhere, I'll give you only 6 months, it will collapse to the ground"  " this your product is too expensive, you will be out of business in no time if you don't reduce your prices" Those of you, putting out negative comments...

USA And The Western World is Against Polygamy.. Our Ghana Law is Against LGBT Rights. Will They Allow To Set Up a Polygamy Office In Their Country??

On June 26 2015, the US supreme court struck down all state laws banning same - sex marriages and legalised in all the fifty states across America. I remember that day, pretty well watching CNN seeing then host taking the live feed Anderson Cooper in a jubilant mood. Pictures from the supreme court also painted the same picture. Men kissing men passionately, and women kissing women passionately and locking tongues as well. All this outside the US supreme court for the whole country and the whole world to see that the United States of America, the greatest free country on earth is now fully endorsing gay marriage and approving LGBT rights. The gay pride parade was insane, trust me. A few months later, some European Union countries also joined in and legalised it unanimously. I could recall on that evening I called up one of my Brazilian friends, a woman who had always been a strong advocate and a strong supporter of LGBT rights to pick her mind on what had just happened in the US. ...
