Raising Our Children With Values

How are we raising our children today to prepare for the future tomorrow?

Yesterday, a 16 year old Swedish girl, Greta Thunberg was named Time Magazine's Person Of The Year 2019. She has over the years been campaigning for cleaner environments for our earth and how we humans can make it safe for everyone.
But it was what she said in her speech after her award that got me thinking deep about the many ways we can raise our children better and to be creative, and responsible adults in the future.
In the presence of  presidents and powerful people around the world, this young 16 year old girl was able to tell all these powerful people a piece of her mind in boldness and in confidence.

She said:
"Our leaders are not behaving as if we are in an emergency. In an emergency you change your behaviour. If there is a child standing in the middle of the road and cars are coming at full speed you don't look away because it feels uncomfortable. You immediately run out and rescue that child."

As parents, we often leave all the responsibilities of raising our own children to their  teachers in school. And we hope that the teachers and the school will train and raise our children the way we expect them to. Just because we have paid good money for them. But actually, the teachers' job and the school is to teach your child to be a doctor, a lawyer, an engineer etc to prepare them for work in the future after school. They don't teach the children how to be honest, how to be respectful and responsible, how to have integrity and stand up for what is right and condemn the wrong things they see.
The schools and the teachers don't teach them these things called values. Because we parents are supposed to do that. We are their first teachers in the world even before the school.
Our job as parents is not to protect our children from disappointments and failures. Our job is to help them recover from them and grow stronger when they experience them.
That way they learn more about themselves in a meaningful way than just the good classroom education that they have.
Like Greta Thunberg, give your children something more valuable than just school or classroom education. Teach them something that will build their character and confidence as they grow. But these things don't come easy. It needs full time dedication, time, commitment and sacrifice from us as parents.
We really have to invest well in the future of our children. So before you kiss your child or children goodbye just before they take the school bus in the morning, before you tuck in their blankets in their beds and kiss them good night, ask yourself

Am I raising my child or children the right away??
What am I living for my child or children to give back to the society or the world when I'm no more here on earth??

Remember, your children are your biggest and most expensive assets not your house or cars..

Raise them well.  Raise them responsibly!!!!

The Paradox of Our Times

*THE PARADOX OF OUR TIMES* Is that we have taller buildings, but shorter tempers Wider freeways and roads but smaller viewpoints We spend more, but we have less. We have bigger houses, but smaller families More conveniences, but less time. We have more degrees, but less sense More knowledge, but less judgement More experts, but more problems More medicines, but less healthy lives We have multiplied our possessions, but reduced our values. We talk too much, love too little and hate too often We have learnt how to make a living, but not how to make a life. We have added years to life, but not life to years. We've been all the way to the moon and back But have trouble crossing the street to meet or greet the new neighbour. We have conquered outer space, but not our inner hearts We've cleaned up the air in our environment  but destroyed our souls. We claim to love all people but quick to show our prejudice We've higher incomes, but lower morals. We'v...

Support Small Business Owner Friends And Family To Grow

To all my self-employed, small business owner friends and family,  this article is dedicated to us!!!! Rihanna releases a lip gloss, people buy it.  Michael Jordan puts out new trainers in stores, people flock to these stores to buy them instantly. Dr. Dre  has new headphones, people buy it. Oprah Winfrey, the richest black woman in the world introduces a new weight loss and diet control program, people jump on board and flow with it. BeyoncĂ© has a new concert, people queue in line to go spend £250 on a ticket just to watch her performance. A friend or family member of ours starts a business, and soon we become weary.  We say things like "Not sure this is going to work"  "This business you are starting is not going to go anywhere, I'll give you only 6 months, it will collapse to the ground"  " this your product is too expensive, you will be out of business in no time if you don't reduce your prices" Those of you, putting out negative comments...

USA And The Western World is Against Polygamy.. Our Ghana Law is Against LGBT Rights. Will They Allow To Set Up a Polygamy Office In Their Country??

On June 26 2015, the US supreme court struck down all state laws banning same - sex marriages and legalised in all the fifty states across America. I remember that day, pretty well watching CNN seeing then host taking the live feed Anderson Cooper in a jubilant mood. Pictures from the supreme court also painted the same picture. Men kissing men passionately, and women kissing women passionately and locking tongues as well. All this outside the US supreme court for the whole country and the whole world to see that the United States of America, the greatest free country on earth is now fully endorsing gay marriage and approving LGBT rights. The gay pride parade was insane, trust me. A few months later, some European Union countries also joined in and legalised it unanimously. I could recall on that evening I called up one of my Brazilian friends, a woman who had always been a strong advocate and a strong supporter of LGBT rights to pick her mind on what had just happened in the US. ...
